Why can't I just clean the carpet myself?

Many homeowners do clean their carpets and rugs with household-grade, portable steam cleaners. The drawback is that this equipment simply does not have the power to accomplish a true, deep cleaning of carpet fibers. Such cleaners do not have the ability to extract water fully, leaving the potential for mold and mildew to grow in your carpets and rugs. Left over water also stains carpet. Left over soap residue makes your carpet soil faster. Whatever stains you cannot get out, will most likely become permanent! Some carpet cleaning machines are not cleaned after each use, so other people's carpet residues can be brought into your home.

Another drawback is cost. Most people say you can rent a machine for twenty dollars. You can, but not including the chemicals. Remember a typical carpet cleaning machine rental is about $100 for the rental, tax, and chemicals. For $99, you can have 5 rooms professionally cleaned and pH balanced without you having to do any of the work.

*We will not move musical instruments, grandfather clocks, most beds, full china hutches, full bookshelves, entertainment centers, computer desks, pool tables. Our technicians reserve the right not to move any piece of furniture or household object that they do not feel comfortable with.

Should I move anything?

Yes, you should remove from the areas being cleaned, all nick knack and breakables. If you want tables, small bookshelves, etc. moved you must remove all contents first.

Will you remove all my stains?

The difference between a spot and a stain:

A Spot- is any foreign material (soil, liquid, etc.) that is removable by standard cleaning methods.(The foreign material is on or around the carpet fiber)

A stain- is foreign material (soil, liquid, etc.) on carpet that is not usually removable by standard cleaning methods. (The foreign material has penetrated 'soaked into' fiber and has changed or damaged the fiber itself). Fresh Air Floor Care technicians will try using different methods however some stains may be very difficult or impossible to remove.

How long will it take my carpet to dry?

You may walk on your carpet with clean feet, socks or shoes. It is always best to keep traffic on the wet carpet to a minimum. Extra caution should be used when walking to hard surfaces.

Why are residue-free cleaning products important?

This is the most important step of carpet cleaning.

Carpets cleaned by Fresh Air Floor Care stay cleaner, longer because we do not leave residue behind.

Often, carpet-care professionals will leave a residue that can re-soil your carpet quickly. The cleaning solution residue attracts soil, making the carpet dirty again sooner and difficult to clean in the future.

Fresh Air Floor Care uses a powerful and detergent-free treatment to brighten textiles and destroy microorganisms. Our cleaner is designed not to attract particles, preserving the texture and appearance of your carpet. Even if residues were left from previous cleanings, Fresh Air Floor Care gives your carpet a fresh start.

The Fresh Air Floor Care carpet cleaning process leaves a residue free fiber that resists re-soiling very much as it did when new.

—————

Can cleaning your carpet too often damage it?

Cleaning your carpet removes dirt/soil that acts like sandpaper which dulls and scratches the fibers resulting in accelerated wear. There is no such thing as cleaning your carpet too often unless the wrong method is used. The steam extraction method, when performed correctly, is more gentle than dry vacuuming and is recommended by many carpet mills

How Often Should I Have My Carpets Cleaned?

Did you know.... Carpet can have pounds of dirt in it before it starts to look soiled?

As a general rule, you should get your carpets cleaned BEFORE dirt is easily visible. Dirt damages your carpet fibers which can lead to discoloration. Fibers can tear or get scratched changing the way the light reflects off of them, resulting in a permanent soiled appearance.

According to the Institute of Inspectional Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), the standard schedule of carpet cleaning is as follows:

However, to accomodate warranty specifications, some carpet manufacturers have a mandatory carpet cleaning schedule. Please refer to your carpet manufacturer for warranty guidelines.
